Kristie Montrois PORTRAITS
October 17, 2019
For their fifth anniversary this year, I decided to give my brother, Matt and my sister-in-law, Rose, the gift of capturing their relationship on the beach. They live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and I was flying in from Utah to photograph a retired NHL hockey player and his family.
Endless skies, azure water lapping at the shoreline, sandy beaches, and sunshine warming you up from your head to your toes… Sounds like a dream, yeah? Well, that was the recipe for my brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Rose.
As a side note, the Oceanic is great place. We had brunch in the lounge with an incredible view of the ocean. We could have waited for a table, but the vibe was so good we decided not to wait for a table and to have brunch in the lounge. They have good food and service was attentive.
After brunch, we headed to the Pompano Beach, under the pier. I must have a thing for high tide, because both of my sessions ended up during high water. The waves were crashing on the beach at a rapid rate. Obviously, it was a deliriously perfect, photo-worthy day:
Rose wore the sweetest black maxi dress with a bracelet I bought her a two years ago. Her dress that fit seamlessly into the cream-colored sand and blue skies, and I love my brother wore a blue shirt that brought out her eyes every time he gazed at her. It is not uncommon to hear him call her his “Lovey” or “Mi Amore.” He said the reflection of the sand on his shirt made her eyes a beautiful color. Not to mention that his attire complemented her dress.
And I know what you’re thinking… what kind of shoes do you wear to a beach wedding? Not heels… The answer is Nothing! Rose went bare foot! Matt wore a pair of white Croc tennis shoes, perfect for the sand.
My only question now is… when can we go back?! But seriously, we had such a relaxed afternoon. Being October in Florida, Mother Nature and Poseidon waited until our session was over to dump a cooling rain over the beach. May your next 50 years be filled with beaches and days as glorious as this!
